The University of Calgary Music Department’s Collegium Musicum is dedicated to exploring music from the baroque period and earlier. This concert features large excerpts from Heinrich Schütz’s famous Musikaliche Exequien, as well as music by William Byrd, George Frideric Handel, Johann Sebastian Bach, and more.

Presented by Instrumental Society of Calgary. A dialogue between two remarkable composers of the Baroque era. This program highlights the contrast between Élisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre’s elegant, courtly keyboard works and Isabella Leonarda’s sacred polyphonic vocal music, transcribed for keyboard by Justin Luchinski.
